My current research focuses on the quantitative understanding and prediction of flow and solute transport in porous media at the continuum scale (Darcy scale). My research combines theoretical elements and numerical simulations to shed light on the fundamental mechanisms underpinning flow and solute transport in heterogeneous formations, with the final goal of predicting fate of contaminant at larger spatial scales. In this context, due to the typical data paucity and the ‘hidden’ nature of geological formations, special attention is devoted to the quantification of the uncertainty, associated with the model predictions and the sensitivity analysis of the model.

- Uncertainty quantification for flow and transport in porous media
- Global Sensitivity Analysis of environmental models
-
Upscaling of spreading and mixing processes
