SORBACO focuses on uncertainty quantification and probabilistic risk assessment related to the possibility of methane leakage during gas exploration and exploitation through hydraulic fracturing. Modern global sensitivity analysis and reduced order modeling strategies are employed to assess the medium/long term probability of contamination of fresh groundwater bodies and gas release to the atmosphere. Direct applications involve realistic scenarios associated with field development in Colombia.
