A new MIPORE paper just published in Science Advances !

Alberto co-authored the paper Paleo-salt water dominates coastal aquifer salinization: a continental-scale study in China. The study challenges a common assumption: while seawater intrusion is often linked to recent human pressures and climate change, it shows that ancient paleo-salt water is actually the dominant driver of salinity in large sedimentary basins. These findings improve seawater intrusion source identification and have important implications for groundwater management in coastal regions.
