Francesco Pierini
PhD candidate
I am a Physics Engineering graduate and a PhD candidate in Environmental and Infrastructure Engineering at Politecnico di Milano. My research is geared toward nanoscale-resolved investigations of cryogenic weathering and its impact on dissolution reactions taking place at mineral–water interfaces. The project combines Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) experiments conducted at the Solid–Liquid Interface Nanomicroscopy and Spectroscopy (SoLINano-Σ) interdepartmental lab with geostatistically based modeling to interpret the interface dynamics.
Expertise in:
- Surface and interface nanophysics
-
Atomic Force Microscopy at reactive mineral-water interfaces
